Y We Are Here

General

For over 100 years, through every crisis, the Y has supported young people. That’s why the Y is the largest and oldest youth movement in the world.

“Lately, we’ve seen young people respond to COVID-19 with compassion and creativity,” said CEO of the Y WA, Ross Kyrwood.

“At the Y, young people have been developing online content to connect, engage and support one another during the COVID-19 crisis, with initiatives such as our Y Chats podcast and WhyNot? website.

“Feedback has been that these opportunities to connect have been a lifeline for many of our young people during the pandemic.”

We know a better future depends on the ideas, energy, and voice of the group with the most to benefit. We believe young people will shape the future, but only when they're inspired and empowered. We believe young people represent hope, and where there's hope there’s possibility.

At the Y,  we believe social impact, health, well-being and positive change depends on the ability for us to inspire, engage, listen, and work with the potential of the young. In short, we believe in the power of inspired young people.
